На официальном твиттере сериала выложили это фото, с подписью: "Can you guess who this is?"
The TAG Heuer Monaco (originally Heuer Monaco) is a series of automatic chronograph wristwatch originally introduced by Heuer in 1969 in honour of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Monaco was revolutionary for being the first automatic as well as the first square cased chronograph. The Hollywood film star Steve McQueen used the watch to accessorize his character in the 1971 film Le Mans. In the decades after his death the use of film stills has made the watch synonymous with McQueen. Although it was discontinued in the mid-1970s, the Monaco was reissued with a new design in 1998 and was reintroduced again with an entirely new mechanisms in 2003 in response to McQueen's increasing popularity.
Cult box.
It's a month or so until Merlin's fifth series begins filming, but we caught up with Katie McGrath, who plays Morgana, for a chat recently to find out what she's been upto since filming on Series 4 finished.
"We’re doing a mini-series based on the book Labyrinth by Kate Mosse. Hardcore, it was hardcore!
"Nick Smith, the director who did Black Death and Severance; he’s intense. He’s this sort of crazy mad genius who goes for total realism. He doesn’t want to see you stab somebody; he wants to see you gore somebody! The fight scenes are massive and epic.
"It’s nice to do something that’s similar to Merlin, in that they’re both medieval, but this is grittier and real and raw, whereas Merlin has a fantasy veneer on it. It’s been brilliant, it has an amazing cast."
What was it like having your Christmas movie out, A Christmas Princess?
"Really weird! I didn’t shoot it that long ago; we did it just before Merlin last February. It was so far from feeling Christmassy! My family are so Christmas crazy, I think my other would have never spoken to me again if I hadn’t done it. And it’s got Roger Moore in it! It was a great shoot."
What was Roger Moore like to work with?
"A genius, the man’s a genius! He’s got a dirty sense of humour. He was so cheeky! He brought his wife and they still flirt like teenagers. At the same time he’s got this cheeky, slightly smutty sense of humour. Coming out of his mouth, you’re like ‘James Bond shouldn’t say that! Oh God! Tell me more!’"
Did you get to hear any stories?
"I didn’t actually, you kinda don’t want to be too geeky and go up and ask. Although me and Charlotte [Thorpe] randomly found these really tacky James Bond t-shirts in a shop, covered in rhinestones, and managed to get him to sign them!
"I’ve got this awful green pirated The Spy Who Loved Me t-shirt, covered in rhinestones, framed up on my kitchen wall with pictures of us wearing them standing next to him!"
Were you a Bond fan when you were growing up?
"Of course; anyone who says they aren’t just doesn’t know the magic! I love all the Bonds but there’s something very special about Roger Moore. You’ve got a flying car and an underwater car – they’re just slightly sillier and you forget how really very funny he was as Bond."
@iheartTPR asks: If you had to be stranded on a desert island with one of the knights who would it be?
"It would depend on what I needed. If I needed a three bedroom house with running water, I’d probably ask for Tom [Hopper], because he’s a big guy – he could build! If I needed to be entertained, I’d go for Eoin [Macken], because man, that guy is hilarious. If I wanted intellectual conversation, Adetomiwa [Edun], really smart guy.
"If you wanted somebody to stroke your hair and tell you lovely things and drift you off to sleep, you want Rupert [Young]. If you are waging war and a team of cannibals are trying to eat you, then you want Bradley [James], because he’s a good leader. So it depends on what your needs are on the island!"
@fuckbees asks: If you could choose any country to film in, where would you choose?
"Russia! I’d love to work in Russia. There’s an amazing book called The Bronze Horseman by an author called Paullina Simons set in World War II and I’d love to make that. I studied Russian history in college so it’s close to my heart but I’ve never been able to visit.
"I’d like to make a film at home too actually, in Ireland, I could just go home every night!"
@Prattbard 9h asks: Are you on Twitter?
"No, I am not on Twitter! I’m not on Facebook, any of these. I’m technologically useless.
"Sadly, the real reason why I’m not on Twitter is that I’m the world’s worst drunken texter. Imagine my drunken tweets!"
It's a couple of months until Merlin's fifth series begins filming, but CultBox caught up with Katie McGrath, who plays Morgana, for a chat recently to find out what her hopes are for the next series.
"We’re back in March, we’ve not got an official date yet, but sometime in March.
"A very nice man has just walked into the room with cake. Cake and blueberries! And tea! This is what it means to be an actress!"
What are your hopes for Morgana in Series 5?
"I want her to be like a warrior queen! I want a kinda Boadicea sort of thing, in armour. For some reason she lives in a hovel and still looks like she wears couture and fashion make-up. Which I love!
"But maybe some armour, some sort of Alexander McQueen-style beautiful chainmail, that’d be cool."
@JonathanAngwin asks: Would you like to see Morgana's side of the argument explored more in Series 5?
"I think it’s fairly clear what her point of view is. You may not agree with it, but I don’t think you need to hear any more about it. Morgana’s a character in an ensemble piece.
"The story is about Merlin and I think that’s what people want to see."
@TheLadyMorgana_ asks: What's the most best thing about playing a villain?
"Great boobs! She’s so confident. When you’re an actress you’re full of insecurity, but you get to rock up on the day and pretend that you’re the most powerful woman in all the land. It’s a good feeling; it makes you feel slightly better about yourself."
@xTeacherTx asks: Do you think that deep down Morgana really hates Gwen or is it just pure jealousy?
"I think it’s total jealousy. I don’t think she really hates her. I think she’s passionately jealous of her. Gwen has taken the place in the hearts of all the people Morgana wishes she had and the position that Morgana feels she should have.
"Also, she’s got really great hair and really good costumes. And Angel [Coulby] is better at sword fighting. I think that’s why I’m jealous of her!"
@ArthurianTardis asks: Did you enjoy Morgana's involvement in the Series 4 finale?
"She’s running the whole show! There may be something else to do with Arthur and Merlin and a few other characters in it, but to be honest I don’t think Morgana really cares!
"To her it’s all about sitting around, chilling on her throne, doing her evil. I think the Series 4 finale, much more than any finale before, very much sets up Series 5. It really does set up for Series 5 and it’s a brilliant cliffhanger."
@TheLadyMorgana asks: What was Nathaniel Parker like to work with as your partner in crime in Series 4?
"The man is hilarious. I don’t know if you’ve seen any of the outtakes but, like [Anthony Head], he just has a brilliant giggle.
"He’s always in a good mood and he’s always up for anything. He’s a great guy and wonderful to work with. Most of my scenes were with him so we spent a lot of time together."
@AprilDMoore asks: To what extent did were you involved with Morgana's costuming/makeup for Series 4 and how it reflected her evolution?
"You know, I wish I could take credit for it because it’s so bloody cool, but I rocked up from Romania after working on the Christmas film [A Christmas Princess] and it was already done.
"The team all had this idea of how they wanted it took look I just turned up and, thank God, I was absolutely thrilled and loved it! As much as I loved her pretty costumes before, this one I adore!
"I was quite happy to let Angel have her 57 costume changes a day while I just stayed in the same thing."
@Maria_Mutters asks: Do you think Morgana has any chance of redemption before Merlin ends?
"Well, if you know the legend, you know that at the end of the day Morgana is the hero! Morgana heals Arthur’s wounds and takes him off to Albion where he’s waiting to be the wonderful future king.
"So really Arthur’s not actually the hero, it’s Morgana! So I’m assuming she’ll have to have redemption, yeah!"
Credit to yavannauk, chaosmaka, chayiana, 3xcusemyfrench, beeej, archaeologist, goldslayer, mrs_leary, rodneyscat, Sebastien.
