Katie McGrath, Brandon Jay McLaren To Head The Cast Of Horror Series 'Slasher'

Prepare to get scared — very scared — now that a new made-in-Canada TV horror series called Slasher has set its cast and is about to go into production.
Slasher, an eight-episode co-production between Shaftesbury Films and Super Channel is a psychological thriller starring Jurrasic World's Katie McGrath as Sarah Bennett, a young woman who returns to the small town where she was born years after the brutal murders of her parents, only to find herself caught up in a series of copycat serial murders based on those notorious homicides. As the body count grows, long-buried secrets are uncovered that reveal pretty much everyone she meets to be a potential suspect — or victim.
Other players in this horror drama include Sarah's husband Dylan (Brandon Jay McLaren, Graceland, The Killing), her grandmother Brenda Merritt (Wendy Crewson, Saving Hope, Revenge), family friend Cam Henry (Steve Byers, The Man in the High Castle) and the town’s police chief, Iain Vaughn (former Top Chef Canada host/Tori & Dean star Dean McDermott).
Production on the series has just begun, and will continue until October, with filming to take place in Sudbury, Parry Sound and Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
"With Slasher, I wanted to tell a modern-day monster story — but instead of a mythological creature, the 'monster' in our series is all too human,” said Aaron Martin, the show's creator, writer and executive producer. “The series is a fusion of some of my favourite thriller genres — the classic slasher film, the contemporary murder mystery and the timeless works of my favourite crime writer, Agatha Christie.”
Also starring are Mary Walsh (This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Enuka Okuma (Rookie Blue), Erin Karpluk (Being Erica), Patrick Garrow (Hannibal, Bitten), Christopher Jacot (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Mayko Nguyen (Defiance, Cracked), Rob Stewart (Killjoys, Suits), Hannah Endicott-Douglas (Casino Jack), Shawn Ahmed (MsLabelled, Paranormal Investigators), Jessica Sipos (Dark Matter), Jefferson Brown (Rookie Blue, Degrassi: The Next Generation), Mark Ghanimé (Helix), Dylan Taylor (The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Covert Affairs), Booth Savage (Mr. D.), Victoria Snow (Cra$h & Burn), Sabrina Grdevich (Skins) and Rainbow Sun Francks (The Listener).

Earlier this year, we told you about Chiller's upcoming original series Slasher, and today we're happy to announce who's in the cast!
Katie McGrath (recently seen getting terrorized by pterosaurs in Jurassic World) will star as Sarah Bennett, a young woman who returns to the small town where she was born, only to find herself the centerpiece in a series of horrifying copycat murders based on the widely known, grisly killings of her parents. As the murders escalate, long-buried secrets are revealed, making everyone around her a suspect…or a victim. Sarah finds herself questioning everything and everyone around her, including her husband Dylan (Brandon Jay McLaren, Graceland), her grandmother Brenda Merritt (Wendy Crewson, Revenge), family friend Cam Henry (Steve Byers, The Man in the High Castle) and the town’s police chief, Iain Vaughn (Dean McDermott, CSI).
