Read an interview with the cast of Merlin where they look back on the past five years, and Katie McGrath shares a lovely story about filming her final scene with Colin Morgan.

Whedonopolis has spoken to Katie McGrath (Morgana), Colin Morgan (Merlin) and Bradley James (Arthur), who all had fun tidbits to share.

McGrath shares a wonderful story about how Morgan took great pains to make sure that she wouldn’t be shooting her final scene ever with strangers, explaining that while they were originally scheduled to do the scene together, Morgan was being pulled away to do another scene somewhere else.

But, “He organizes with the AD to give him the nod, and what we did was, on the second unit we would wait for Colin to do a take on the main unit, Colin would run over, he’d do my lines, then he’d run back. So he’s running back and forth between the two,” McGrath recalls.

“Second unit’s standing down and waiting for him. He comes to my last take, and he does the clapper board and I’m waiting for the golden wrap, which is where everybody goes around and gives you a goodbye and a well done, and nothing happens. Colin’s just standing there,” she remembers, and “what I don’t realize is that Colin has refused to go back to the main unit until everyone from that unit comes over, he refused to go back!– ‘til I got my proper golden wrap.”

Morgan meanwhile reflects back to shooting some of the more iconic moments from the legends like pulling the sword out of the stone. They also talk about their favourite guest stars and how lucky they’ve been to work with so many talented actors.

Speaking to Geeky Girls Love Sci-Fi, Bradley James reflects on how sad it is to say goodbye to the cast and crew. “At the time, day-to-day, you take them for granted,” he admits. “It takes you being taken away from that atmosphere for you to appreciate the situation. It’s a good thing that we’ve been separated because we can now really appreciate each other.”

He also shares his hope that there’ll be a commentary with himself and the knights on the season 5 DVDs.
